Second Floor Under Construction

The second floor of the health center is now under construction, with scaffolding erected to facilitate the movement of materials up to the roof. Workers are painting the first floor, which will include a number of rental spaces for retail businesses.

Below is a view of Mbale from the roof of the health center, which lies on the main road between the Clock Tower and the Islamic University. The Abayudaya are very excited to have a presence in town.

Rabbi Sizomu Returns to Uganda

 

Rabbi Sizomu had a successful Fall 2009 visit to the United States. Gershom connected with old friends and made a lot of new ones. He enjoyed visiting many synagogues, day schools, and college campuses, raising awareness about global Judaism, with a focus on his community in Uganda. In partnership with Be’chol Lashon, the Abayudaya community is providing life-saving health services and creating jobs — promoting peace and cooperation with their neighbors.
