Sha’arei Refuah (Gates of Healing) Health Center Help provide life saving health services to the Abayuday Jews and their Christian & Musim neighbors. THE ABAYUDAYA HEALTH CENTER The most vital community need is improved healthcare. Extensive feasibility research led to the design of the five-year Abayudaya Health & Development Plan. The community qualifies for a “Health Center III” based upon the Ministry of Health guidelines. A site has been designated for the future Health Center. The land is being cleared to lay the foundation. With your help the Health Center will provide a variety of critically needed health services including HIV/AIDS prevention education, testing, and counseling. The infant mortality rate in Uganda is high. The Center will also focus on women's and children's health offering education about the birth and care of infants to all women in the region. The health center will coordinate the Village Health Workers who travel regularly to all the villages to provide health education including the proper use of the mosquito nets and screens, sanitation, nutrition, vaccinations, HIV/Malaria testing, and pre- and post-partum education. The health workers are equipped with motorbikes to visit the entire region twice a month and have cell phones to make medical-related phone calls. |
